As above, never heard of a P1 car with the battery in the boot.
You need to jack the car up and get under it at the front, put a jump or charger on the starter connection.

X reg so must be 2000/2001 P2 model, my old one had battery in the boot but iirc I could still lock unlock the doors using the key without the battery being connected

If you can get the bonnet open there's jump-start point just in front of the N/S suspension strut top that you can attach a positive jump start cable.
