Default S80 recall

Had my letter 6 months ago, saying a further letter would be sent. Nothing ever happened until my service was due. They said they would check it then !

Default Recall incomplete

Hello all, having read through all posts on this thread I'm still non the wiser.

I have a 2014 V60 R-Design Lux Nav 4 cylinder VEA, back on the 06/12/2016 It had the EGR cooler and associated pipework replaced under warranty (previous owner).

I bought the car in June 2017 and have had no issues until recently, the car seems to have a flat spot around 1500rpm and the other day there was a funny smell in the car, when I pulled over and looked under the bonnet there was a bit of smoke coming from the engine. I've called numerous volvo dealers but yet to actually speak to someone as they are busy blah blah.

I did receive a potential recall letter about 3 months ago and spoke to volvo shortly after but they said there's nothing to worry about.

I have since seen on the volvo recall website that my car has a recall incomplete status as of 11th October 2019 and that I need to contact volvo for remedial repair work.

Anyone care to help me understand what's going on?

I would like to sell my car but unfortunately I do not want to pass on this issue to the new owner.

Many thanks

You had the pre recall letter which states amongst other things that if you have any usual smells you must take it in immediately .. It seems you are going to have to insist they look at it !
Sometimes if you come to the end of your journey after doing 50+ mph for any length of time you will smell hotness when you get out or lift the bonnet , that is normal as the Particle Filter regeneration process heats the exhaust up to 600C .

My car (144k on the clock) has been in for major service and new cambelt today. Just got a call from the dealer to say there is a fault code in the ECU related to the manifold and they are under instructions from Volvo to not let the car back out onto the road in those circumstances. A new manifold will therefore be fitted tomorrow free of charge. The dealer are in the dark as to what the final fix is going to be.

I'm curious if you had experienced any unusual symptoms before the dealer serviced your car and discovered the fault code ?

I had the same (pending) fault code stored, however, my dealer just told me to not worry unless I had a burning smell or any engine stuttering issues.
