Cabin filter soaking wet - HOW?!

Hi. Replaced my cabin air filter last week, and the new o e is soaking.

Anyone else had this problem? Obviously rain getting in, but how the hell?!

Windscreen was recently replaced, could that be a factor?

Some random thoughts: Windscreen not properly fitted,weather seal not refitted correctly or scuttle drains blocked/partially blocked.

Scuttle drains blocked is the usual culprit.....

They block easily as some idiot on Volvo design team thought it would be a good idea to fix the bottom of the drain tubes by puting a hole through them and fixing down with a tie wrap through them. Cut the tie wrap off and let them freerun with no blockages.

I've had this problem before...

There's a piece of plastic trim that goes between the bottom of the windscreen and the scuttle tray cover, it should be sealed to the glass, but might not be if it's been replaced...

If it's not sealed to the glass, water will run down the screen, make its way around the trim piece, and then drip onto your cabin filter... I stuck mine to the bottom of the windscreen with some black silicone and haven't had any issues since...

Thanks! Windscreen was replaced a few months ago and that piece of trim is barely attached at all. Will attach with silicone and report back, cheers!

P.S. Which stuff should I buy? Something from Halfords preferably.

Whenever I have a small sealing job to do a little tube of their silicone adhesive/sealant does the job - never let me down. Once opened it soon goes off, so a small tube is often sufficient. Not sure of the brand - think it is Granville - but comes in a blister pack and various colours. For larger jobs I use 'Tigerseal' from a motor factors.
