Default Dice communication error

Hi again, after finally getting my finger out and getting the VIDA software installed on my Mac,, I've got it running on virtual box etc, all seems working, it recognises the DICE but I keep getting a communication error message.

Now, I bought the DICE from a forum member, it's compatible with a diesel, so I'm as happy as I can be that it's genuine. The software recognises the DICE and tell me to run a test, which then gives me the communication error message. The drivers the came with the software are installed and I'm as certain as I can be that I've done it all correctly.

I don't think it's a vehicle issue as my auto electrician has reset the SRS light recently with his kit. I have manually configured the vehicle by inputting the VIN number, I just can't get DICE to talk to my car.

The green 'Firmware" stays light is flashing on the DICE, indicating it's working normally and I have made sure that the ignition is on. Gatos has used his on my car before so, again, unlikely to be the vehicle.

Any ideas, I'm kind of at the end of my IT ability!!

When you use virtual box, you must got to devices and select the USb sub menu and then select the DICE, so windows can have access to it. Have you done that?

make sure you connect up a power supply to the car battery so it is 13.8 volts when you are working on it with the ignition on , this is a requirement of the VIda kit .

I've looked in 'Device Manager" Alex. It shows the device but with a yellow exclamation mark and when I open up 'Properties", it says "This device cannot start (Code10)".

I've checked the driver, and it's the one that the installation instructions have said to install, the one that came on the Windows 7. Only the green light on the DICE is flashing, I get a quick USB com status yellow light flashing but then its goes off, so the device is clearly not connecting to my computer properly.

I might not be following your instructions correctly though?

Default Sorted....I think!

Ok Alex, I think I've sorted it now.

Cause? I'm an idiot!

Needed to go back to virtual box, open settings and enable the USB2 thingy.

It all seemed to work after that, got the same glow plug code you found when I was last down! Dunno how to clear the codes, guess I'll have to spend a bit more time playing with it. Couldn't see an obvious option to clear codes.

thanks for speedy response though.

USB2 is the solution indeed. There are 4 tabs above the error codes. Select the last one, named "DELIVERY" and scroll down. You will then see the "ERASE ALL FAULTS" button
