Recently changed the front discs on my daughter’s XC70. Had the same problem with those countersunk torx screws. Eventually punched them around with a sharp pointed steel punch and heavy hammer. I had bought Volvo discs. They came with new screws for the caliper bracket but no torx screw. Would have thought that that would have also been on the kit. When ordering replacement torx screws, parts department stated they had never had to supply them before. I replied that I thought that they would have them in stock as surely their workshop must need them. Not so apparently.
Is it not possible to get a standard micrometer at the disc when the caliper is off?

In continuation from my post yesterday, the front brakes are now done. Both torx scews that hold the front discs on were jammed solid & they needed to be drilled out, which made the process longer than it should have been. I'm moving onto replacing the rear ones tomorrow & I'm hoping its not going to be a repeat of the malarkey involved with the front ones, but I think it will be!

@Ian21401 - I replaced front discs & pads on a Citroen Relay van recently. The parts were purchased from Euro Car Parts (All Pagid) & all the required bolts etc were supplied in the boxes that the parts come in. However, the ones I bought from the same branch yesterday for my car (All Pagid) only had bolts for the rear caliper, but no torx screws for any wheel or caliper bracket bolts for the front... Very odd! Its definitely something to bear in mind if I'm doing a brake job again, that's for sure. With regards to the Micrometer, I think the dust guards will be the problem because there's only a small gap between them & the actual disc. I could do with finding a Micrometer that isn't too bulky?

Kev,
Cannot remember about the front discs as I didn’t try to measure them as I was replacing them anyway due to a high spot on one of them.
I was able to measure the rear discs with a standard micrometer with the caliper off when I was renewing the pads. I didn’t remove those discs as they did not need replacing.

Does anyone know if there's a different sequence for bleeding the brakes on Volvo's? I would have presumed that you'd start at the wheel that's the furthest away from the reservoir, but a video I watched on YouTube stated that the VIDA instructions are different & the bleeding sequence is different. Can anyone confirm this?

I don’t know categorically but I’ve always started at the one furthest away from the master cylinder, BUT, it isn’t necessarily the wheel that is furthest away. It’s the longest pipe run and depends on how the pipes are routed around the car.

It doesn't matter at all whether you bleed the furthest cylinder or not.... all the pipes go through the ABS module so it's not that simple anyway.

Just bleed them all in the normal way until you've pulled through clean fluid.

I tend to do the wheel closest to the master cylinder first, ie, front off side. I use a vacuum bleeder and doing this enables me to watch things are working as they should as I feed fresh fluid into the resevour. I then work anti clockwise around the car.

I had a go at bleeding the brakes today, but the nuts on the bleeder nipples seem to be very odd sizes? I tried various small open ended spanners to allow room for the clear pipe that the fluid flows through to fit onto the nipple so fluid didn't go all over the place. However, the spanners just don't seem to fit snugly enough onto the nut to open the valve. I don't want to round the nuts afterall!

Any idea what the actual size of the bleeder nipples are on a 2007 S80? I tried every spanner I had & nothing worked! Maybe I just haven't got the correct one I need to do the job. A local Kwik Fit wanted £40 to bleed the brakes, but couldn't do it for me today because the "Brake Technician" wasn't in.
