Unhappy C70 head scratcher !!!

Hello all, newbie here.....

Bought a 2010 C70 for the wife last weekend, and very nice it is too.

However, try as I might I can't get any dashboard lights to blink into life at all, neither the instrument binacle or the floaty centre console spring into the light. We've properly checked all the relevant fuses, nothing wrong there, the dimmer switch works on the sat nav so we're assuming that it's ok.

Bit stuck if I'm being honest, need some help methinks.

Admin, if I've posted this in the wrong place, I apologise.

It's not so bad a place to live, most that slag it have never been here because we're absolutely in the middle of nowhere.....bit like Rome, built on seven villages rather than seven hills.

And the 'sunny" bit, well apart from rhyming nicely, we do get more than our fair share of sunny days.

Much like any other place really with a mixture of good and bad.Used to live virtually in town centre, not bad to start with it went downhill for a while[we were burgled twice in this period]but seems to be on the up a bit again now.Moved a few years ago to a quiet area of Ashby.
Quite a famous place in some ways it was Robbie Coltraines character Cracker that used "Scunthorpe" as his toast when taking a drink and it was also some years ago used in an advert that used the Gene Pitney "Twenty four hours fromTulsa"changed to "Twenty four toasters from Scunthorpe"

Don't know about a 2010 model but I have the previous version and I have to turn the light switch on the dashboard to centre position if I want dashboard lights on.

All sorted now.

My son (plant electrician) came round and disconnected everything in the glove box area and blasted everything with contact cleaner, exercised all the pins, fuses, then reassembled, all to no avail.

The thing we didn't check until last was the connector to the light switch, "cleaned" and exercised the connector block and as if by magic, all the dash lit up.....simple fix but very frustrating as it was the last thing we looked at, you live and learn I suppose.

You know.. there's a reason, a very good reason, why, when one is looking for something, one always finds it in the last place he's looking.

Once thing is found, one isn't searching anymore

Enjoy your freshly cleaned electrical connections, thank your son for starting from "wrong end", and not from that switch

A beg to differ... slightly.

I once spent ages looking all over my bench for a particular screwdriver that was in my hand all the time!

Ahhh..

But when you eventually found it...
Were you still looking for it?

But, in reality, was it ever lost in the first place?

I blame it all on a 4th dimensional warp in time and space at that particular moment.
