123GT seat tilt lever - broken spring?
Hi All,
Just bought a GT with a very floppy seat-back tilt lever. My initial assumption is that there is a broken spring inside the mechanism, does anyone have an exploded diagram of the GT seat mechanism or have any experience of this fault? Even better, does anyone know how to fix it and know where I can get the parts? The first photo below is the type of offending seat hinge and the second is a google photo which possibly shows the offending spring(?). Any help very much appreciated. Many thanks, Mike.

Mike;
I don't expect you'll find a factory exploded assembly diagram, as it did not contain any replacement parts, and was to be replaced as an assy...but it is a simple enough assy that removing the cover will reveal most if not all of its secrets... ...and if it's only the "tilt lever" and not the seatback itself (which would involve the highly specialized spiral band spring), I expect the right tension spring may have broken (or if you're lucky, one of its end-hooks may have simply become dislodged). If indeed broken, that spring should be fairly easy to find a suitable replacement for (important parameters to match are physical size and wire gauge, such that replacement spring characteristics are similar to original). I'd remove cover and have a look inside (this might involve removal from seat)...then you'll be much better informed...if possible, post some pix! Good Hunting! |

The non standard slot headed screw that is on the front face is a tensioner. It either needs tensioning or checking its connected

If you can't fix it yourself you might try a company called Omicron in Norwich. The GT seat hinges are the same as those on a Lancia. They may be able to help.
