Who gave you the quote, George? Well done on the glow plug relay.

Intercooler hoses are notoriously expensive from the dealers so perhaps that is where the most expense is occurring.

All the best, Peter

This is not a dealer, it's a Volvo parts supplier/breaker.

Have you tried Swedish Car Parts? www.swedish-carparts.co.uk I have, on order, a head for my V6, priced at £35 with delivery at £12. It seems quite a reasonably priced outfit. Failing that, keep an eye out for a 740/760 turbo spares or repair in the freeads. It may be cheaper than having the parts separately.

I have e-mailed them before and have now again. We will see if they will reply. I did think about buying a parts car but I am replacing as many worn or likely worn parts with new parts so that I can prevent too much repair work in the future.

To be honest, George, if the intercooler pipes are in a reasonable condition, don't bother changing them. They only carry air, and as a general rule do not need replacing for the life of the car. If any are split or cracking then it is worth changing the damaged ones. As long as they are kept clean inside and out they will last for a few years yet! Oh, and have you drained the intercooler? There is a plug at the bottom for draining, and you will be surprised what comes out!!
If the price for the parts is too expensive, just change the ones that need to be done right away. Leave the ones that have got life left in them for another time.

Well, due to a serious porblem with a blocked oil trp and excessive crankcase pressure, oil was pushed up the oil trap hose into the air box and oil was alos pushed up the oil return line. On top of that, the engine was leaking oil all over the place and so all hoses are covered in oil internally and externally and they are no longer in good condition.

I don't have a 760 Turbo, just 740's. The mileage on my 740 petrol turbo is 270k miles.
