Default Air con recharge NW Kent / SE London

Hi all,

I'm after recommendations for getting the air con recharged in NW Kent or SE London. Looking for a proper drain, pressure test and refill rather than just a top up.

I had an issue at an independent garage in the past, got my C70 and both the in-laws cars done on a deal, all 3 stopped working 6-9 months later. All then went to kwik-fit, I wouldn't normally trust them but it's just plugging in the machine and you can keep an eye on them. They confirmed no leaks and all been ok since they refilled. Original garage must have put the minimum amount of gas in to maximise their profits it seems.

I now need to get the V70 recharged but Kwik-fit are asking £60! There are plenty of independent garages that will do it for less but I'm nervous after my previous experience. So any recommendations of a garage that will do a good job for a reasonable price? Or am I being too tight and I should just pay the £60?

Thanks,

Mike

I've done mine (nearly year ago) at K&S Motors in Mitcham.
First look into the garage and I wanted to run away.
Literally.
Guys look as competent as a bunch of hay.
Two things that made me stay: recommendations from friend, and that Ferrari being just picked up.
Big surprise: the big man of the place is spot on on any job. Not only full drain test refill without even asking, but he also dragged one of his boys to give him (and me too, just by the way) a tutorial on all the points that need checking during refill, most common faults and how to spot etc etc etc..
Ending in a biiig shot of air sreshener (spray) in direction of his worker and loud shout " now get washed! You stink!" And loads of laughter.

I've been trying to do that refill in few other pkaces- few even thought that its 1-port system..
But this guy.. Knows what he's doing.

Aircon works fine ever since.

And I paid £50 (friend referral discount)
So yes, pay that £60- that's about right for proper job. And wherever you go- insist on keeping an eye on your car during works.

Second port is under steering fluid reservoir, by the way.

Edit:
Another trusted garage is in Matfield (few miles past Tunbridge Wells from you)
AudiTechnik- they've been servicing my V70 for few years prior to me buying it, and apart from lack of knowledge about oil change in gearbox- I just can't fail them on anything. Give them a call if you want.

Yes, I will. I thought I'd got lucky as a recharge is listed as £49 on the Kwik fit offers page but it's £59.95 when you tried to book. I tried to get them to let me have it for £49 as it advertised at that price on the offers page but they won't as it's an error and shown at the correct price before you pay.

I've left it for the time being, I'll do a bit more research.
