Default Thermal sensor time sender

Hi all, my P1800ES has a failed Thermal sensor time sender which controls the cold start injector. The injector is being operated even when the engine is hot causing very difficult hot starting. The only replacement I can find is part no. 462632 at Nordicar for £180.00 + £15.00 delivery. Does anybody know of an alternative item or supplier? Any help would be much appreciated.Best regards Jim.

I believe that 241726 is the coolant temperature sensor for use on the Djet system. It is not the separate thermal timer for use with the cold start injector which Volvo / Bosch started using in 1972 or 1973.

462632 appears to be available from Scandcar for a significantly lower cost than from Nordicar.

I believe that 462632 may also be available from your local Volvo dealer as a stock part because it was used with the later K jet system.

Yes, still available from Volvo , but pricey.

The thermo time sensor is listed as part number 243130 in the 1800E and ES B20 parts catalog, so it looks like it’s been superseded.

I believe the oem part was a VDO brand switch, but also there is a Bosch equivalent.

To confirm your TTS is the culprit, you can temporarily disconnect it and this will cut off any signal to your cold start injector.

If yo are prepared to get creative, the 241726 sensor is available from RockAuto for a very low price.

https://www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo...497757&jsn=398

Add in a 1 board processor such as a trinket, a small transistor, recirculating diode and a relay to the cost of the 241726 sensor and if you have some minimal C coding skills you could build a replacement for the thermal timer for about $50 Cdn $. For another 0.10 c, you could put an indicator LED on it to tell you when the injector was on and off. The one board processor would allow you to program any time and temperature points into it that you want - if you think you know better than Volvo / Bosch.

PS That Nordicar price was in Euro not £ which means that the cost of the part is only 1/2 a nose bleed, not a full nose bleed!
