called the garage they said that the gold volvo is chain driven no cambelt i did nt realise the d5 had a chain option what would be the service intervals on a chain? i know they will last longer than a belt but they will need changing at some point

ignore them ,they are talking rubbish, its definitely a rubber belt.

it should have had a least 1 belt by now - if full VSH have a look and ring the volvo dealer to confirm (unless there are receipts). If not factor in £250-£300 for a change if not going DIY. May need a spare key too (if important) so factor that in too.

With a car of that age, you’ll need to check a lot of stuff.

Does the electric seat adjustment work properly?

Is the stereo fully functional?

Are the headlights in good order?

Has the clutch been changed? If not, how does it feel?

Are the brakes ok?

Is the tracking ok?

Why only 5 months’ MOT? I’d want 12 months for peace of mind.

“You have 0 messages” is excellent, by the way.

You can also tell from the MOT history that some work has been done over the years.

The S60 grill doesn’t fit as the clips are in different places, can’t remember if it’s the same shape. You could looks for the complete S60 bumper cover with fogs etc in the right colour. Was going to do that to my last P2 v70, but couldn’t stash the original front anywhere without the missus spotting it.

The steering wheel should fit, just double check the wires as there was a major revision of the electrics with the facelift models around 2004/5.
