Default Turn fog lights on with high beams

Hey Volvo people!
I'm driving an S60, 2009 with adaptive bi-xenons.
The thing is I barely if ever use my fog lights (to be honest, just to test them on a yearly technical test, I never used them, so they just sit there.
What I want to do is I want to tie them to work with the high beam. So when I turn on the high beam for the fog lights to lit up as well as the high beam, but for them to be off when the high beam if off and only dipped beam are working.
This I assume would be easily to just add additional cables from the high beams to the fog lights, but still - ideas are more than welcome if someone has done that.
The second thing that I want to do is I want to replace the standard halogen bulbs on the fog light with a LED one so it will be brighter than the halogen light.
As this the way the bulb is connected to the fog light, I am not entirely sure how this can be achieved. I believe the fog lights are H1 bulbs?
Anyone did something similar or converted fog lights to LEDs? I'd love to get some opinions and if possible pictures, that would be great.
The way the fog lights are I am not entirely sure if it is possible to put a LED light on them, but if I can - that would be great.
Please, share your opinion on the idea as I was not able to find any information on it for this car.
One of the ideas that I've got from a fellow Volvo person was to connect the relay for the high beam with the relay for the fog lights. But I cant find a proper diagram on how the relays work. I found which relay is which, but that's all.

I always thought it was illegal to have front fog lights on either by themselves or with main beam, they should only be on with dipped. Can’t show chapter and verse, though.

Rule 236, fog lights front or rear must only be used when visibility is poor. Along with that front fogs are designed in such a way they would not add anything to main beam performance. You would be better off adding a pair of proper driving lights and wiring them into the main beam circuit using a relay.

I don't think there would be much point in replacing the bulbs either as the lens do the work of aiming the beam. Maybe remove the fogs and replace them with decent driving lights? Then swap them over for the MOT.

Should have mentioned that I am not from the UK and I just visit UK for work part of the year, then I use my car in my own country. Thus I won't be using it in the UK.
But the idea of removing the fog lights and having some other lights on the same place is a good idea, but I was not able to find any replacements. Any suggestions? Any ideas on what size to look for? I can start measuring but also the way these attach to the front bumper is a bit inconvenient.
I was looking for plug'n'play led lights, but there are none for this model. For the next ones - yes, with the plastic covers and everything.

This may be of interest Fog light conversion

I believe that turning the foglights on with high beam is something you can do with a Volvotech add-on unit

It seems that this might be the only way. Will look more into details and will see how to tie them physically to the high beams.
Thanks.

get some headlight relay wiring harnesses off ebay, it'll take the signal from the main beam and switch the relay for the fogs, takign the juice directly via a fused link to battery.

14.99 ish i think

You have the facility to put the fog lights on with high beam if you have a CFE+

I've looked into the CFE+ option and it seems that no one in my country uses it, at least I cant find anyone having it. And to spend over 200$ for 1 setting, which I can do sort of easily, I am not entirely sure it's worth it
So, eventually I will do it manually, I am just awaiting my LEDs to show up and put them on to see if they make a difference in the lighting output as for the moment, the fog lights are barely visible on the road when I have the high beam on. It makes no difference to have them on at the moment.

Not sure, but I don’t think fog lights are designed to make a difference when main beam is on. You look along main (or high??) beam, not through them, that’s why in fog, the beam just bounces back at you. But with fog lights, being much lower, you look over them.

So I would expect the main beams would ‘hide’ the fog light beams however bright the latter are.

As has been said above, you need pukka driving lamps, mounted higher - look at rally cars’ set-ups for night rallying - and keep the fog lights (used with dipped beams maybe) for fog and bad visibility.

But see my sig.....
