One aspect of changing sides would be the massive task of altering every single bit of ARMCO barrier on the roadside. At present they all overlap in the direction of travel, not changing it would make it a wonderful tool for ripping the side out of any vehicle colliding with it.

Traffic light filters, just about every road sign, lane markings, motorway gantries, the list goes on. I think we can assume it ain’t gonna happen any time soon......

Aren't these debates on metric and which side of the road to drive on going to become academic soon any way ?

Once the cars are driving themselves, and they've removed the steering wheel, there will be no point trying to switch which side of the road the cars drive on, and it won't matter to the computers, whether they're metric or not as long as they know the speed limit.
