Default Connection to phone for internet and modem not working

hi All,

When I first took ownership of the car (V90, T5, 2017) I was able to use my phone for a connection to the internet, Now it doesn't work. It see's the phone, but no internet connection.

So, I bought a sim card and placed in the system, and that also doesn't work. It see's the SIM, but again, no internet connection.

Does anyone have some troubleshooting tips before I tell the dealer and get charged an arm and a leg for them to look at it?!

I read somewhere about using a diff. driving profile, but that didn't work. The software was updated in May (although don't believe it was working before then).

thanks,
Neil

Have you checked the settings in the communication settings page, untick wifi if using your phone tick it if using the car modem, there are videos

This may be a phone setting. Certainly in android you should find a setting that says "mobile hotspot and tethering". You have to make sure tethering by bluetooth is enabled to allow the car to access the internet via the phone internet connection.

Should stay on once turned on, but if phone reboots, runs out of battery it often defaults back to off.....

Do you have the internet / globe icon in the very top left of the screen?

It's the top one on this page: https://www.volvocars.com/uk/support...y-s-status-bar

If you haven't then the modem isn't working.

I had a similar issue and needed a modem unit replacing.

I have similar but a bit more strange problem since couple months.

I had been using Bluetooth tethering to connect internet. As I enter the car, it connects internet via Iphone's Bluetooth tethering automatically however after few minutes it drops for a second and can not re-connect again.

Phone keeps showing there is an internet connection active but car does not show the globe icon and does not get online.

If I connect the car via WiFi, you see this one second drop again but car manages to re-connect. (WiFi hotspot via iPhone is annoying because it needs to be re-opened every time you enter the car, it shuts itself off to save phone battery)

Since WiFi is not as practical, I want to use Bluetooth bit that has this problem.

Anyone else have similar issue with Bluetooth connection???

Any suggestion?
Dealer simply advised me "use wifi" only...

The first thing you can try is to unpair the phone and restart it. Then pair it again with all the permissions asked during the process.
By the way have you got smar****ch? Sometimes it can disturb the Bluetooth connection.

I had the same problem with my S90 D5 after last service in May when they have updated my software. It was impossible to connect with Internet through Bluetooth and WiFi. Went back to service last month and they had to reinstall system to get that working. It is fine since then.

That makes some sense. Mine has broken also. No longer connects when I enter the car. Only started to play up following a service in August when my software was updated.
