Default Newbie here with a 2011 D3 and some questions

Good evening all,

I have just purchased a new family car, a 2011 99,000 miles D3 S60 R-Design in (I think) passion red.

I have a couple of questions,

Between 55-70mph there’s an intermittent shake coming through the floor, it phases in and out, I have only just purchased the car yesterday and have yet to rule out the obvious rear wheel balancing / tyres. However, is there a known fault (suspension/subframe repair) to cause such a problem?

Secondly, there’s a strange engine load dependant noise coming from the dashboard when the a/c is engaged and the blowers are on low. Rev the engine and the noise increases with the engine, turn a/c off and the noise stops. There is no obvious noise coming from the compressor/belt area under the bonnet. Any thoughts? I have read a bit about a pipe that can amplify noise..??

Many thanks

We have the same problem with the air con. No idea what it is. Have you managed to get to the bottom of your shaking yet?

Hi, for this second question I think that it's your alternator that is about to give it up. I had the same problem, without AC no noise, when AC was on it came back. Few months later my alternator bearings gave up on the highway. Have That checked asap and fixed. It can be fixed, here in Hungary it costed me 70.000 forints, that's like 200 £ or so. Since then no issues anymore.
