Default Vodaphone p-simm expired

Hi, after 12 months of XC90 ownership, my vodaphone p-simm has expired. I didn’t use anywhere near the supplied amount of data and am not keen on spending a fortune getting another 12 month/500GB from vodaphone.

What are the options, can I just purchase a 24mnth 24gb 3 simm from Amamazon (about £40) and is it then as simple as removing the Vodaphone simm and fitting the 3 simm or are setting changes required ( bit of a Luddite!)

Thanks.

Mine expired and I just ignored it. Most of us have mobiles on us with lots/unlimited data so I don't see the point.

Not quite as simple as a straight replacement - the 3 SIM will need to inserted and then activated.

It's been a while since I did mine; IIRC it involves responding to a couple of SMS messages from 3 and registering to use their portal (if you want to keep track of usage etc).

Thx but like I said, bit of a Luddite, my mobile doesn’t have very much data allowance........ sim only deal £5/ month with more calls than I use lol!

Thx tech, think I might be able to manage that, or my 11yo grandson will lol!

Do things like the VOC app, send to maps etc work via the data sim or are they different? Without a SIM, if I send a location via the app to the car, will it be picked up as soon as it picks up my phone wifi?

The VOC has it own sim card and always will have connection between the phone and the car (when you have subscription of course). So send to car will be active regardless of having extra sim for data or not.

I had the Vodafone sim installed when the car was new in October 2019.

I omitted to ask the dealer what will happen at the end of the 12 months. I noticed on my bank statement a charge of £5.53 from Vodaphone - my assumption is that this is the charge for the complimentary SIM. I will investigate.

My 100GB 'dealer installed' Vodafone SIM expired today.

Just took it out. Inserted my 'Three 24GB 24 Month SIM' as an alternative and started the car.

Immediate result. Car recognised the new SIM immediately. Good. (I must be an 'IT Techy Genius'.

Decided to use my phone number for a Volvo ID Registration rather than my e-mail address. Duly entered it and touched 'Connect'.

(You use this to receive 'Send to Car functions' and also 'Connected Service Booking')

Now awaiting a Text Message to confirm Registration for Volvo ID.
