It is only certain models which benefit, the D6 remap remains the same 😟

That’s just sarcasm.

Irony would be after 5 years of frustration just as I drop diesel Volvo for a v6 petrol Alfa, Volvo makes their cars acceptable driver’s vehicle. Something tells me that’s not going to happen.

Volvo will never be a Alfa or a Bmw. But it has other virtues that those two that i've just named don't have. At the end of the day it all comes down to your own preferences. It's all about what do you want from a car and drive it according to your own driver's philosophy

In the case of a new install of Polestar Optimisation to the D4, am I right to assume that it would be the "improved" version?

Well I don't think they are able to install the older version.

Yes. The software is allocated, is hosted on a Volvo server. Your dealership downloads from it. All new data was recorded there.

The old software has been replaced by the new one. They changed the mapping which is rewritable.

There's no chance of rewriting the same on the previous and first Polestar optimisation that was already done.

For sure. My friend over here is absolutely right.

No risk of that happening.

Do know if Polestar offer a free upgrade for those who already have it?

Cheers.
