Battery state of charge
A technical question please, and thanks in advance.
I realize that cars with regenerative braking are programmed to have a usual state of charge of no greater than about 80-85%. This allows energy recovered during regenerative braking to be fed into the remaining 15-20% capacity of the starter battery and not wasted. I think that the latest Volvos all have regen braking.
Does anyone know whether slightly older Volvos which do not have regen braking (mine for example is a manual 2015 D4) are also programmed at the same %age, or whether they are programmed so that the alternator and voltage regulator maintain a higher state of charge?
