Default Minty.

Anyone heard from Minty lately?

Not been on the forum for a month. a few hours ago sent him a PM but he may not get it.

Looking to know the name of the chap who transports his breaker cars as have used him in the past and need his services again.

Can't drive my Volvo to Birmingham as MOT expired and faulty steering. Don't want fine/points.

Not an answer to your question, and I may be stating the obvious, but if your concern is fines/points, I understand you can drive your car to an MOT test station, with an expired MOT (assuming it's roadworthy - which your steering comment may suggest its not, and this is the reason you're travelling to Birmingham).

"If your MOT has expired, the only circumstances in which you can drive it is directly to the garage for its test or to and from somewhere to be repaired. If you're stopped on the way by police, you must be able to prove that you have an appointment booked at the garage."

The issue is as it's failed and as it has a dangerous/ fix immediately x2 I can't drive it full stop.
Options are to have it transported to garage/repair and re-MOT. Or fix issues then drive to pre booked re-test, even then suspect as no MOT insurance would be declined. Imagine if had a non fault accident, insurance company would have a great excuse as even though fixed the items still no MOT.

Do not want 8 points, car seized as dangerous, so insurance declined. Plus fine.

Safer all round to have the car transported to Garage.

James.

I did caveat my response by saying "assuming it's roadworthy - which your steering comment may suggest its not", as having a dangerous fault obviously precludes you from taking it out on the road.

Anyway, I'm not really helping am I. So best of luck, and hopefully someone chimes in with something more useful.
