940 2.3 uneven tickover
hi, i have an L reg 940 auto estate.with 260000 miles on clock. it has FULL volvo service history and has been serviced every 10000 miles.its in mint condition.my problem is... on tick over its very uneven to the point where it now sometimes cuts out,its been back to volvo twice the timing and electrical side are all ok. the first time they said there was a fault code to do with the idle speedwhich was switched back on this seemed to improve it for about a week
second time it went back they said there was no problems but the air flow was slightly down this should not cause the problem. there are no obvious tappet rattles or noises. pleae could some one help ps. could it be a petrol pressure problem?. thanks Honest phil |

RE: 940 2.3 uneven tickover
TRY CLEANING THE THROTTLE BODY, THE AMERICAN VOLVO WEB SITE RECOMMEND THIS AS ONE OPTION AND EVEN SAY TO DO IT EVERY 15K WHICH IM AM SURPRISED ABOUT AS MY OLD 92J DROVE FOR 50K WITHOUT ANY PROBLEMS.I AM ACTUALLY HAVING THIS DONE MYSELF NXT WEEK AS MY IDLING IS A BIT ERRATIC/LUMPY.

RE: 940 2.3 uneven tickover
My 240 2.3 seems to need the throttle body cleaning every couple of years.
The symptoms are that it starts fine when cold, runs fine when at temperature, but stalls / runs unevenly when the needle is in the lower quarter of the gauge Keith |
