Hopefully not this weekend though. I would rather do a local run to test them in snow than the A1 between Northumberland and Edinburgh. That is a bleak old road to be on in the snow.

I have just changed the tyres, not the wheels themselves. I know there is a way of storing wheels on rims but is there anything special I need to do with my 4 summer tyres. At the moment I am keeping them on a shelf, on their sides in a factory unit.

How should I be storing my complete wheel/tyres please? At the moment they're stacked on their sides one on top of the other.

I think this one where you can go into nerd overload and have a tyre in its own armchair with a good view of the tv. If, as most people wont, you do not want to go to the expense of a tyre rack I believe the answer is to stack them as you have with a cover, bin bag even, over them so that they are not in direct sunlight, something about rubber drying and cracking over time. I assume the answer is the same for plain rubber but I thought I'd ask.

I believe the worry about standing them upright is they may distort due to weight / inaction but how long that would take to actually happen I don't know. Just another thing that the internet / forums make you worry about when you don't really need to.

As long as they pumped up (wheels with tyres) you can stack, hang or lay on their sides. If it is just the tyres then on their sides stacked on top of each other is the best.

p.s. Harvey - How old are you btw? I used to live in Harrogate, although I have never known a Harvey.

42. I have not lived in Harrogate although I do go there once a year with 3 friends to play golf in the area. We stay in The Ascot House Hotel and play a range of courses. If golf is your game then you will know that Harrogate is well blessed with good courses nearby and Harrogate itself is a great place to go out it. I confess, Harvey is a pseudonym.

A wee bit older than me then (10 years).

Yes I do play. There are some magnificent courses in and around Harrogate. You'll have to let me know when you are next up for a game. (I'm a fair weather golfer btw).

I've heard exactly the opposite. Tyres by themselves should be stored standing and rotated regularly.

Hello

My local tyre fitters told me to store the wheels and tyres on their sides. They live at the back of the garage, in these:
