Angry Awd xc90

Hi all
Newbie to the xc90 i have just purchased a 2010 model and have also just spotted the forums about worn splines and bevel gears do you know if the problem was resolved by volvo by 2010 or will i be expecting grief in the near future the car has done 62000

As far as can ascertain the later models have a redesigned sleeve and also a change in the chassis to enable it to be fitted and the 2010 is one of them.

From what I can gather the complete angle gear and splined coupling was uprated for the newer cars, but that could be wrong.

Post #51 here http://v70r.com/forums/topic/13041-p...e-6?hl=splined explains this, I would guess that they changed it with the launch of the new shape XC70 in late 2007 and rolled it across all models at the same time.

It is still a designed-to-wear component though, and the 90 was very good at ripping them apart so I'd be thinking of replacement at 100k or so to be on the safe side. If it does wear out it can damage the shafts costing significantly more to fix than just having it done as a precaution....

My clutch is on it's way out at 85k, when I change that I'll be having the coupling swapped as well because the gearbox will already be dropped saving on labour For what the part costs it's a no brainer.

You are ok , a re-designed angle gear and sleeve came on 2007 models
