best way to clean your oil covered hands
until a few years ago i used swafega and if my hands where really dirty added some sand, this worked fine but means cleaning the garage sink u bend out at times.
now i use washing powder i find it much better than any of the hand cleaners, works fine even if your hands are wet covered in oil or grease. any one else use washing powder . |

I tried that one but I got a clip round the ear for leaving black marks in the sugar bowl.

I've used allsorts in the past including washing powder but one thing you really need to do is buy a really good moisturiser.Yes even if you have big rough manly hands always use a moisturiser straight after washing. It's a simple fact that if whatever product your using can dissolve old engine oil just think what it's going to do with your natural skin oils?
A good few years ago swarfega was suddenly taken off the market but instantly put back on again but with a seperate container of moisturiser.I think they had an issue where somebody was trying to claim for skin damage due to the fact it left the skin vunerable to infection. As it didn't state you needed to use a moisturiser they were in a dodgy place. They soon added one and continue to sell it. The stuff we use at work has grit of some sort in it and in fact the handwipes we use also have it.The wipes get used for everything as they are fantastic.I think they have orange oil in them which will shift just about anything. We also carry alcohol hand sanitizer for when fresh water isn't available.Smells a bit like vodka but kills everything,Leaves the hands extremely dry as it evaporates and degreases ALL oils.So we have moisturiser as well. The skin can so easily be infected and as you get older you will regret not looking after your hands. We used a cleaner once that caused a lot of folks to get cracks appearing and finger nails started to curl and split. That was stopped straight away I can tell you. Regards Brian. |

Seriously many years back I got into the habit of wearing latex gloves (for car work - behave now), they do cost a bit but it's so much more pleasant than ingrained oil etc, the down side is the latex ones do smell of latex to which my wife objects (no further comment on Latex thankyou), for a while I used to get some hand cleaner from work which was orange scented and had abrasive particles in it but she didn't like the smell of that either.
