You need a 4K device to benefit from the increased resolution, and the nighttime footage quality is worse due to the higher resolution. It sounds like with the 750 you may have the best option all round Blackvue have.
It doesn't work like that. If you needed to get a number plate you'd just grab a frame of the video, and 4K would provide more detail than 1080p (roughly twice the horizontal resolution).

Having said that, filming in 4K often results in a reduced frame rate (so if you only have a few frames of footage, you might actually find it harder to get the information you needed) and poorer quality images in the dark.

It's not strange. They're in business to make money, and at the present time there clearly is insufficient demand.

Don’t think Audi or BMW would agree with you as they both offer them. In fact in the 3 series M340i it’s standard.

It therefore seems that a dashcam is practically worthless in an RTA unless you are also willing to sue. Good to know.
That’s a case for the insurance ombudsman.

I wonder how many actually tick the dash cam box on the options list - they are not “sexy” like the bigger set of alloys that are de riguer for many new owners!

Not in my case.(LV insurance) Without going into details after I got tailgated by someone who subsequently did a runner the insurance process followed it's normal course . 18 months down the line my insurance company sent a letter saying that my case had been closed and to send them a cheque for £92. Seemingly someone had decided that I was "partially responsibly for the incident" once I pointed them towards the dash cam footage they changed their mind , confirmed that I was in no way responsible and confirmed the fact in writing

Offering cameras as an optional extra at £xyz price makes money. Insufficient demand? If that was the case all these companies that make cameras would be out of business.
I would have happily paid £500 for front & rear camera at factory fit.

We have all bought into the hype that Volvo is leading the way in car safety.

But the reality is that other marques are doing far more for safety already.

Volvo still charges £3-5k for intellisafe and parking cameras as options.

New Audis now come with this basic safety equipment as standard.

The fact that we are still fitting our own safety cameras is a joke.

I’ve got the surround cameras and I don’t know if any one has tried it, but selecting the front camera only gives you an excellant view forward. Easily good enough to act as a dash cam. There is also a large spare capacity on the internal hard drive. Surely it would be fairly easy for volvo to combine the two.
