Default rcd tripping out

Hi all, just got back from trying out our freedom sunseeker and found a problem with the rcd, when boiling a kettle after about a minute and before kettle boils the breaker drops out, tried a friends kettle and that was same, tried a fan heater and that was same, its fine when using a small appliance such as a radio, so it seems to be related to a loads of about 1 or 2 kilowatt, anybody got any idea's, regards, Pete

Was it the unit or the site post that was tripping? Some sites are as low as 6A though most are 10A. If it is a domestic kettle it will almost certainly draw too much power, you can get caravan kettles that are low wattage but they are slow. Much easier to use a gas kettle on the stove.

What rating is the fused trip? Check to see if the wires are clamped firmly in the sockets and consumer unit if they have worked loose due to vibration while towing then you may be getting slight arching where the wires connect.

ive checked the wiring and tested for earth leakage, (found none) i posted this thread on uk camp sites forum and have recieved what might be the answer, from another member who has the same kind of van with the same problem, it looks like the consumer unit wich is fitted with two breakers one 5 amp and one 15 amp, and this may not be high enough to handle the demands of our things we take for granted at home such as television, kettle , fan heater and microwave, obviously these are not all on at the same time but iv'e never had a problem in any other caravan i have owened in the past, regards, Pete
