roller load cover lug missing...
Hi. I have a 61 plate V70.
The load cover - that is, the rollerblind affair - is missing the plastic lug at one end that locates into the side of the car. (it's actually broken off at some point, with the remains removable). The roller works fine, but I can't fix to the car when I pull it out... First problem - what do I call this item to make searching easier!? (thingummy and whatsit are not helpful) (photos below if it will help) http://jpegbay.com/gallery/005294016-.html#2 http://jpegbay.com/gallery/005294016-3.html#3 http://jpegbay.com/gallery/005294016-1.html#1 Second problem - where can I get a replacement? Anyone breaking a V70?? There is a (very small part?) number on the remaining one, but nothing found on Google and my Volvo garage have just helpfully offered a whole new load cover for a mere £300+ |

You should be able to make apermanent repair with a short lenght of steel rod or piano wire and some epoxy adhesive. Drill both ends/ parts so that a piece of rod will fit into bot parts . Fill with epoxy and insert rod then push together and allow to set. Dont use 5 min epoxy as it deteriorates . Use araldite slow epoxy . It takes about 2hrs o start setting and cures fully in 24hrs. Clean any adhesive off with methylated spirits .

They do come up on Ebay pretty regular.
Depending how many are after it on the day the price can range from about £65 upto £130. |

Thanks for suggestion. The main 'lug' is offset from the part of the piece that inserts/secures into the cover, so it's not at all straightforward to create something rigid enough to work. I was hoping to find a solution - or even a spare part - that doesn't rely on my abilities to fabricate...

I agree it seems daft but I don't think it is a one inch widget.
I think it is a single piece/rod that goes from one side of the cover to the other. Assuming I am right, if you can get the old one out then you might be able to use a piece of rod or tubing of some sort that will do the job. |

It is a one peice rod that is fitted to te blind/cover you wont be able to buy any spares . You will have to mend it or replace it .
