v40 gearbox problms

Hello, my gearbox has just seized and looks like it may have been leaking oil, can any one tell me how i identify a gearbox on a volvo v40, 2ltr, 16 valve, p reg, non turbo, I thought it was just an m5p but I have been told by a breakers there is a number on it maybe six digits or more with letters.

your vin number will refer to which gearbox your particular model has fitted.
