Whats this on my 940 turbo?
I found this tube and it's damaged. The other end had a screw bodged in the end. Picture located bulk head end of engine in the middle above rocker. Goes left to right and ends up UK passenger side.

Does your boost gauge work? It looks suspiciously like the hose that feeds the gauge to me.

Definitely looks like a vacuum tube. As mentioned, dashboard boost gauge feed?
Cheers

thanks all. I do not have cruise control or a turbo gauge. I suspect it's for a turbo gauge but none here apart from what the old user fitted and that's using a different line.

Next thing is to follow the hose to its ends to find out if it's actually connected to anything. A thought crossed my mind that if the previous owner had a boost gauge, he also had an MBC so the gauge would have been on one hose and the MBC on the other - the one in your pictures maybe.

I have a turbo smart valve. I can switch between 10 and 16psi. I'm just confused why i have (looks to be) a volvo boost line and no OEM guage.
Unless... Does the volvo ECU come with a MAP sensor? My modded 480 turbo had a remapped ecu with a 3 bar map sensor added. oh the fun of 25psi on a T25 and FWD. Shame the autobox was not friends lol. |

If yours is/was an LPT originally, it won't have the boost gauge as far as i understand things.
The MAF takes the place of a MAP sensor usually, the MAP tends to eliminate the need for a MAF as the same info can be calculated by the ECU from engine speed, throttle position (through a throttle potentiometer, rather than just two switches as on the majority of the Volvo systems) and Manifold Absolute Pressure.
