Hi all,
I am new to Volvo, having previously had scrapes with Vauxhall,VW, Seat , and more recently a Peugeot 407.
Just been bought 53 plate S40D by my girlfriend for xmas!
Fantastic car, having covered 130k already in 3 and a half years by the first owner who has had 10 services done too!
This car will do 800 motorway miles per week,so any ideas/tips to keep her running smoothly and economically would be appreciated.

Hello and welcome...

As with all cars doing that kind of milage it would be best to keep the oil fresh and change the filters regularly, both oil and fuel filter. Basically stick to the suggested service intervals and if you're doing high speeds/hard driving be sure to change the oil more often.

Happy Volvoing...

Thanks,
Any ideas on the MPG I can achieve on the 1.9D.
Says 52 mpg in the manual and when you travel 170 miles a day it really concentrates the mind on getting as much as you can out of every drop of derv...
Occasionally straying over 75 nearly has me in tears!!!

hi,s40d.a light right foot and no wheelies and keeping it well serviced should bring the best out of it.I get 35-40 mpg from my 1.8 petrol v40 doing this-yes that's me on the inside lane!!Good luck with it.My girlfriend's audi a4 1.9tdi gets 57mpg but it costs an arm and a leg to service it-swings and roundabouts!
