Fair enough if you want the extra power/torque of the intercooled version. There are as many of these still around as the non-intercooled, probably more. After a slow start in the UK, the 700/900 diesel gradually became more popular as the years went on.

The M90 is definitely nicer to use but early version does have the weaker synchro problem so beware. I've never heard any horror stories about the M46 when paired up to the D24 so I'm not convinced there's a strength issue in this particular application. Obviously it has the added complication of the overdrive unit but these are usually very reliable.

It was a buy one get one free deal.

One was basically a parts car but I’ve sold that and will hopefully be going back on the road.
