Spring kit and you may as well do the adjuster cable which runs from the handbrake lever to the main cables.

Just a thought:
When time comes and I open up the brakes.. And IF I find inside ORIGINAL shoes with lots of meat on them (small chance, but still).. What would be better: Leave them, with new disc Or replace with Pagid?

If they are our only choices, neither.

In my defence, I've already given my best possible advice (change everything with genuine or ATE) earlier in the thread and you're free to accept my suggestion in full, in part or not at all. It's only my opinion.
I've also made a YouTube video with nearly 80k views showing in detail how to change everything too so other than doing it for you, how much more helpful would you like me to be?

Very good they are too. I consider myself fairly adept at spanner wielding, but have found sirobb (chesshire’s) videos useful on jobs I haven’t tackled previously.

Very very informative clip. Unfortunately, in my case a) I don't have (and didn't have 2 days ago) time to get original parts- job must be started 9:30am Saturday and finished not later than 14:30 on the same day b) I'm a bit inexperienced in the field of buying parts, so its very likely that I'd pay 5x whatvtheyre worth. c) in addition to "b", this car isn't the youngest. It was maltreated by previous owner (loads of car washes and waxes, but maintenance wise- only after something broke), no matter what I wish, there isn't much life there left. I'm not going to spend money on porcelain dentures for someone who's given 2 months to live due to cancer.. Maybe rough and heartless at first, but its a car. Not my last Volvo for sure, but not the one I'll keep either. So, yes, there's only the one choice- either old if meaty and Volvo stamped, or new, but pagid. Unfortunately, answer " neither" doesn't help. I can't go without shoes, and I can't get OEMs.

Choosing one of your options wouldn't have been helpful either as it's not what I consider to be best advice.
I always try to give best advice and whether or not it's accepted is down to whoever asks. As an aside, the weather for Saturday looks unfavourable but I wish you luck with your timescale.

I'll set tarpaulin over if I have to. But it must be done.
I understand your point about giving advice. Also I do understand that the best way out would be to use OEMs. But I think I will have to decide on what to do when I crack old drums open.. Who knows, maybe I won't even fit the adjusters after all. Currently, even if adjustable part by handbrake lever is nearly fully wound down (or up, you know what I mean), it takes 5 clicks to engage. If it drops to 3 on new sets then I'll leave adjusters for some other time. But I'll have them handy, just in case. BTW: it took conscious effort to count these 5 clicks I've got it as a habit that when I apply handbrake, I do it with button depressed, to avoid wear on mechanism.

I do the same as you out of habit but if you see the angle of the ratchet teeth, it's not actually a harsh action and would probably take a hundred years to wear them down, maybe longer.
