If I was you I would take the car to VOSA own test station.

https://www.gov.uk/government/organi...s-and-stations

You need to make a appointment first.

Sadly there are always some dealers who are little more than yobs in suits. Amazing how they get to represent the manufacturers directly. The motor trade is its own worst enemy. I find it hard to trust any of them as the bad apples taint the trade for everyone else.
Why not join AA/RAC. They have excellent legal advice departments that will know exactly how to deal with this stuff. First stop is an independant MOT. Take pictures.

You need to make a appointment first.
Take the MOT the dealer has given you and show them. They will investigate and the dealer will probably lose their Mot status and you will have the evidence to take to the claims court.

I would reject on sale of goods, rather than Selekt. Selekt allows you to reject it ' and buy another Volvo from the same dealer at the same or more expensive vehicle' . SOG means you can walk away and buy a car from somewhere else.
As I have been through the 'Selekt' mill, its really a good idea, marred by the dealers screwing customers for profit margins. I don't know what it will take for salesmen/ dealers to remember, that no customers, means no business.......

Register an official complaint with Volvo Head Office and refuse to deal with that dealer. I can also recommend Mill Volvo Knaresborough. For what it's worth all some young sales guy had to do at Harrats Leeds was get a lease cost on a brand new XC60 and get back to me..nothing happened

I would inform them in writing you are taking a car supplied, MoT tested and checked by their mechanics to another undisclosed MOT test station, depending upon the outcome of that you will decide what course of action to pursue - send it to the guy at the top and copy the service manager, I would also put in writing what you have been offered in way of bribery - Mike

Christ, what a mess. I would still get VOSA involved irrespective. Diabolical sales and service.

Just reject it and get your money back.
Wash your hands of it.
