Default Yike's my bulb - Don't laugh just help

Hi Guys n Gals,

Wow, I have a message on my S60 'dipped beam headlight failure' so I presume it's just my bulb that's gone (drivers side). There looks like plenty of room to get the old one out but I've done a bit of 'google' research and it seems they are £70 a piece!!!

My question is have I determined the right bulb before I buy it?

D2S 35w?

My Car is a Volvo S60 D5 Lux on a 56 plate.

I'm about to sell the car (don't go there, we need a 7 seater and I'd rather cut my right arm off than sell this car, but the right arm has to go)

Question, If I buy one, is it a doddle to replace by just disconnecting the negative (making sure no-one connects it back up) incase I get 3,000,000 volts and replacing it. As I said, there seem like there's plenty of room to get it out.

Any help appreciated.

Try the "dead" bulb in the other side. If not working, its the bulb. If it works, it could be ballast. Check fuse.

Now then, that works a treat so far. I'll have a look on the nearside tomorrow. From what I remember about changing the sidelight on the nearside there's very little room to switch the bulbs. I think I might have to take my chances and just get a new bulb.

Are these bulbs easy to change and if so can anyone help on the process.

Mucho Gracias

Thanks, I asked that question before seeing your answer.

I'm amazed the headlight has to come out. Bloody thing looked easy before I asked the question.

I'll have another look in the morning. I'm sure I remember having a chat with a local Volvo specialist in croft when I was asking why the lights were slightly different colours and he said they were £90 for genuine Volvo (fitted).

Looks like I might have to get him to do it.

Thanks for that. I've had a look and it seems there's plenty of access. I tried to get the old bulb out yesterday and I've broken it. Can I just simply disconnect battery remove and replace or is there something I need to do with the ballast?

Hi I have just found marmitespreader's instruction regarding the xenon lights.
may i ask / confirm a couple of points ?

I have a drivers side headlamp out. Active xenon (ABL)

I can get access into the back of the bulb and according to your instructions i should be able to turn the lugs clockwise to release this unit? is this the ballast?
should this rotate about 90 degrees and is it the whole unit (silver square) or just the lugs ?

should this release to get access to the bulb?

what type of bulb will this likely be ? D2S or D1s?

is the stock bulb 4300k or 6000k

many thanks,

John
