Default Engine oil for 2008 D5 with 164K

Hi All,

I am after engine oil for my v50 D5 which has 164k on the clock

I am thinking of putting 5-30 fully synthetic in it which still meets the ACEA A5/B5 not the 0-30w recommended. With the mileage would I prefer a slightly thicker oil. I change my oil every 6k.

Thought I would run it by people on here, see if they can see any issues with it.

P.S i have just had a nightmare job on this car!!! doing the front spring and 2 inner CV boots. My spring compressors would not compress that damn spring!!!

Thanks,

Jon

Its absolutely fine.
It is only thicker when cold (which is the worst time for it to be thicker) the same when hot. However 5w is fine for uk temps, and lots of people use 5w30.
Also, if servicing has been done correctly, 164k is barely worn and does not need any change in oil spec. If it did, that would be 0w40 or 5w40, but it doesnt, so dont worry! 0w30 is still the best viscosity for the engine.

I'm using 5w-30 fully synthetic A5/B5 and change every 10k (on 144k miles now).
Miles more choice which makes it more economical to change out more often.

Thanks, it will get the 5-30W.

I change it a lot more than scheduled anyway.

That's always going to help.
