Default Potential purchase - engine replaced, flood damaged

Still looking for a C30, one has come up having the engine replaced after flood damage, what are the things to check, look for, or any advice as to the likelihood of future issues?

Wow... Our cars can throw hissy feet just because of clogged sunroof drain and moist in odd places, and you are considering getting an ex-flood car?
Its obviously up to you but I would stay miles away from that expecially knowing how P1 platform can be with electric&water issues.

Check all electric and electronic , switches, lights, CEM in cabin, pull all codes with good OBD reader (preferably Vida+Dice), inspect undercarriage and all brake parts, drive a LONG test drive and check codes again. Basically - go full CSI Belfast on in until you are sure it can actually be used, otherwise if any doubts - my advice - walk away.

Just to update thread, the car drove well and checked out fine, but a lack of paperwork, vagueness about what was done and no hint of negotiation ensured I dodged a bullet, I ended up buying a 2012 C30 2.0L lux, low miles, with full VSH, delighted with it, cheers.

Never buy a flood damaged vehicle unless it is given to you for free

Soaking a vehicle in water will ruin all fabrics and non-metal, non-plastic components

All electronic modules will have been wet and corrosion will have started, causing problems not necessarily now but in the future

So walk away. Fast.

Good engine choice.... That 2.0-litre Mazda engine is quality. Chain driven timing gear as well.

Worth noting that the aux belt area can get a little noisey though. I believe Volvo changed the tensioner design a couple of times because of it. I think also becuase of the way the bonnet closes on these cars, there is a channel for water droplets to leak onto the aux belt area so you may notice a bit of screeching when you start it on wet day etc.

Bit of silicon spray quietens it down my housemate's car, though we will change the belts/tensioner soon.
