What a car this is and now fitted Bilsteins b6 to back and its sharpened the car up no end. Also fitted a grom usb plus and the sound system is awesome. Loving the car and even though I have spent quite a bit on getting it to my standard I think I will be keeping it some time yet.

Just when you think you have spent enough along comes another problem...front strut bushing at top split and clunking like a good one over speed bumps. I can turn the nut at the drivers side and can see it going up and down when I put weight on front. Going to replace both fronts for secondhand complete units hope im doing the right thing, car booked in on Friday.

Why don't you go for new parts ?
you may well be doing the same job soon if using old parts,
Dave

Cost of new would be expensive and the garage is charging 120 fitted and they are an independent volvo specialist so I do expect them to check thoroughly but I could be wrong. I will update after they are fitted.

Hi Ian
What second hand parts are you using, are you supplying them,
I see that you have B6 shocks on the back, what shocks have you got on the front,
Dave

Yes the lot I think its the cheapest way it would cost me 120 for just the rubber bushing at the top of the strut fitted and when I changed the rear shocks they where very rusty and flaking just like the front. Hence my choice.

Using a Volvo Independent hope they use some decent condition front shocks from a D5. If using new would have gone for sachs complete units at the front Im sure they would be good enough. The rears now feel fantastic but I had a C30 r design before this. Firm but not to firm is my verdict on the rears and would have like to match the front with the same maybe in the future.
I am surprised the rears make such a difference was not expecting them to. Before it was a very floaty ride with no control but they had done 155000 miles and very rusty and to be honest surprised they didn't break. If the car proves reliable I will change front dampers to quality ones at a later date. If money no object Bilstein b4s

When the time comes why not match the fronts with B6's too?
Granted, they are a large rung up in price from the B4's.
