2005 xc90 2.4 d5 auto problems

I have a 2005 xc90 2.4 d5 auto we put a replacement engine in and for about a week it drove beautifully and then one morning i started it, put it into drive and it stalled which was first sign of a problem but I started it back up and it was fine. I then drove about a mile down the road and lost all drive just revved up, got the car back home and found when left for a period of time and started it would have drive but only for about 10 seconds and then nothing, now that doesnt even happen now there is no drive at all from start up no warning message and no codes. I have now removed engine and box in the hope I would find something but no sign of anything obvious. Please in need of help.

Is the gearbox filter clean or have you replaced it?

Hi its an internal filter thats only accessible through strip down but I have checked it and its clean,
