I understand that the study has gone into technical measurements to prove this but also find this interesting as having searched through many other google pages/car forums a lot of people have done this and I have not managed to find anybody saying they did this and it damaged their engine/dpf...etc.

Also of note, and I stand to be corrected here, in the test they used 2 stroke oil rated Jaso fc which I believe is part mineral part synthetic.
Looking at all the advice on the net it says to use mineral oil which I believe is rated Jaso fb so could this have made a difference? I may be talking utter S H I T E but just thought it may be worth a mention. From people posting their real world experiences it only seems to have proved positive. Either way I am still slightly on the fence...

To gather a slightly wider view point I have created another thread and linked to this one in the Diesel engine section.

The other thing with the test, they concentrate on added lubricity, all my experience of people using 2 stroke, is that it works as a cleaning agent, or rather deposit preventative, with any lubricity being an 'also'.
Alledgedly mercedes once used it in diesel during an endurance test in a country with poor quality fuel... |

Wow that FuelExpert report is really clear
You get no lubrication gains, no power gains. Instead you get power loss, injector fouling and reduced DPF life. Conclusion: Don't put oil in the diesel. You'd be mad to.

According to my grandfather, who would now be well over 140, if he had survived, it was common practice to add paraffin to diesel which provided constant injector cleaning - he added a half pint to every gallon of the fleet - for what it is worth most injector cleaners added to fuel, both petrol & diesel, are paraffin and olefin based (aka alkanes and alkenes).
Paraffin reduces the gelling point of diesel in cold weather.
