Default v70 awd rear spring replacement

Can anyone comment on what needs to be undone to remove and replace the rear springs on these AWD cars. I have a 2000 mk1 v70 xc and want to replace the rear springs. I can see how to remove the dampers, but I am just hoping there is someone that can explain what needs undoing to replace the springs without unbolting everything, as it has independent rear suspension. Thanks

Hi AmazonDean

I haven't done it myself, but this thread looks relevant (read to the end).

Hope that helps,
Steve

Hi AmazonDean,

Just curious, are you moving away from Nivomats?
I have 3 AWDs (1998 Auto/1999 Auto/1999 manual) at the moment in various conditions, and I am deciding what to do with them.

Are you keeping the complete 4wd or reverting to 2wd?

Steve

Hi Steve. I am hoping to keep the nivomat set up. The four wheel drive seems ok and works as it should at the moment, so trying to keep it standard. There is one broken spring, but the car sits low at the rear both sides, so hoping new springs will cure it.

I am now struggling to get hold of any rear springs for the awd with Nivomat suspension.

every time I see the right spring on a website, they then contact me to ask for car registration and sometimes the vin number. the communication I am getting feels like they are just guessing if their part fits. Still can't find any.

Can anyone point me in the right direction please.

Thanks

Hi AmazonDean

Are you looking for new or used?
Pair or single?

Were yours broken, or just weak?

I am pretty sure I have seen a source recently. May be able to look this evening.

Steve

Hi

Do you have a Volvo part number looked up with your VIN and suspension info from the VIN plate?

Maybe 9461883

http://www.skandix.de/en/spare-parts...394/?f=s143459

Otherwise search for Kilen or Lesjofors

Hi Steve, thanks for your help. Actually both sides have broke. I have now managed to get the springs out. They are approximately 350mm long and I think 102mm outside diameter. I don’t mind if they are second hand, it’s just weather second hand ones are worn or not. I would be happy to use them. Below is a link to a photo of my vin plate.

My car registration is "V97 JAW" Volvo v70 xc 2000 model.
