RE: VOC IS A WASTE OF MONEY
Thanks for all advice guys,
Update on Problem is - I found a volvo specialist in yellow pages about 15 miles from me so paid a recovery company £50 to take it to him,the trouble is he says he is up to his neck with work, so making very slow progress on it, and seems to be working on a few cars at same time cos it arrived with him on the 1st at about 1pm, I rang at 4pm and was told he'd had a quick look and thinks it's sticking tappets and would be dealing with it today (2nd) and would ring me, I heard nothing from him up to 1pm so rang him and he said that Compression was very low and asked what happened because valve timing is about 3 teeth out, I explained running normal, just wouldn't start next time went to use, he says don't know for sure but head may be u/s now and new head not worth getting cos it costs about £1000 for one, is supposed to be letting me know later this afternoon after resetting timing and trying it. time is 4.30 pm and not heard from him. anybody know of a 2.0i 20 valve head for sale? May just try to get another and sell as non runner. It would help if the guy would get stuck in so i know where i stand with it. If non runner have to pay recovery again just to get it home. |

RE: VOC IS A WASTE OF MONEY
Cheers guys, not sure what to do now, has no compression in 3 cylinders so bent valves in those, he said a lot of times the guides get damaged too so new valves are a risk, ang iam thinking maybe piston damage? Does anyone know about the 2.0i 10v engine, looking at possibly buying another 850, is it underpowered or still quite nippy? don't want go back to sluggishness as in 2.0i 940. also could possibly have an 850 with lots of spares for sale inc. no leaks air con(recently serviced),3 mode auto box.

RE: VOC IS A WASTE OF MONEY
Hi ya,
to be honest don't waste your time with a ten valve 2litre. Our 20valves realistically are under powered for the job, but in my case when they first came out there was a big money difference :-( Also the 2.5 came popular due to Volvo UK saying your could have either engine for the same price to push the 850 one year, missed that one. So putting an autobox on it as well then she is going to be slow, sorry plus the 18bhp you will be missing. mark
