Ruddspeed
Hi, I'm looking for more information on any of the Ruddspeed conversions cars that Ken and his team did at their workshop in Worthing. Whether they were for the Amazon, P1800 or 140 series.
I have 2 Ruddspeed Amazons, a 66 and a 68 123GT and am currently adding as many Ruddspeed cars as I can find to the Ruddspeed Registry. I realise this is a difficult task as many car might not have survived or maybe sitting in a lock up or barn gathering dust. As well as Volvo's we have AC's, Alfa's, Mustangs and a Pontiac. So if you have a Ruddspeed car in any condition and would like to have them added to the registry, then please drop me a line and I would be happy to add them. Photos or a little history of the car would be great too. Or maybe you had a Ruddspeed and sold it many years ago, do you have photos, memories or details of the car. I have heard there were a few 140 series car too, but not seen them. I did have 3rd Ruddspeed Amazon that I bought from Tony Barrett when he was based in the railway arches by Stamford Brook tube station in London, many years ago. It was a grey car with a red interior, and if my memory serves me correctly the engine was a Ruddspeed conversion taken from a car he referred to as the 'Farmers car', but it was so rusty it was parted out. Unfortunately by the time I bought his car, and was trying to get it back on the road, it needed too much work as it also too far gone to save, and at the time I simply didn't have the money to take on a huge project like that. So I put the engine into a spare LHD 69 Amazon, go it back on the road. It was a great car to drive...but then due to a change of job (and country) I sold everything to someone in France. I wish I had kept the dash now. I've attached a photo of my 68 123GT Ruddspeed car and the 69 car that went to France (including the dash)...and the most recent Rudddspeed Amazon that will be restored next year. Any Ruddspeed information or memories would be great too. Thanks in advance Peter |
