Default B172 Tappet Shims

Hi all.

My 460 Turbo is sounding very tappety of late.

Presuming they're the same as the B18FT, I don't suppose anyone has a big bucket of tappet shims knocking about at the bottom of the garage?

Cheers,

Steve

you are sure to be able to get them from your dealer , but why not run a feeler blade through the gaps , easy to do , then determine which if any need adjusting ...

Aye, will do Clan.

It gets much worse when warm, tried different oils with no difference, so that's why I'm thinking tappets.

Can't help but think that Volvo will be worse than useless on this though.

400 series parts were discontinued a looooong time ago!

Cheers,

Steve

Edit:

Rang FRF, discontinued ages ago. Predictable really

Ok then, will have a look. Probably when I'm back from my jollies in a few weeks.

Incidentally, when I rang Renault I gave them the wrong engine code at first - F3P (later 400 series 1.8/2.0) and their search came back empty, then I realised and gave them F2N and hey presto.
So, does that mean that the later engines in 400s don't use shims?

Thanks for your help,

Steve
