Question Ridin' High . . . .

Hi Folks , Just had my suspension shocks / springs renewed all-round on my 240SE estate . I bought standard Bilstein shocks , heavy duty rear springs , but I thought I would fit GLT FRONT springs in order to lower the front just a little . However , picked up the car today from our local garage and the front of the car points up into the air ! Mechanic says the car will " settle down after a couple of weeks " , but I cant believe its going to lower itself anywhere near enough ( would need to drop at least an inch to look "right" ) . The car drives nicely now , but it looks awful ! Has anyone else experienced this problem when replacing springs ? The springs are brand new and labelled as 240 GLT . Any advice or experiences greatly appreciated . . . . . Cheers

They will settle quite a bit.

That's interesting. My GL Est is due to have front shocks & springs (bushes too) fitted in the next few weeks all 'standard' Volvo items. Should I expect mine to 'ride high' for a while, or is this only common with the GLT springs?

Whenever I have replaced springs on other cars they "ride high" for about 10 seconds, ie as long as it take me to sit on the wing and bounce it.

Even my 19 stone would struggle to make this car look right . . . . !

The supplier of the springs says the problem is caused fitting GLT spec springs to a non - GLT model , but I fail to see how this causes the front of the car to sit higher ? ?

P.S Anyone got any lowered front springs for a 240 ?

Maybe the strut assembly itself is different on GLTs, not just the springs?
I know that 260 struts are different.
