Hi Simon,

I've now had my 1998 V70 2.5 Tdi Auto for just over two years now and it's covered 106,000 miles of which I've done 33,000 of them. Assuming your car is basically the same model, I'd expect my fuel consumption to be a useful guide. The very worst I ever saw was 26 mpg but in fairness that was a week of very short journeys mostly fully laden and stuck in city traffic. The best I ever had was 47 mpg on a fast trip from Rotterdam to the Baltic coast. I usually reckon on about 38 - 40 mpg for my usual mix of driving.

Again assuming your car is similar, the recommended service interval is 10,000 miles with a recommended cambelt and tensioner change every 80,000 miles. Some members consider this interval to be too long. Changing the belt and tensioner is not cheap because access is poor but it's absolutely vital it's not neglected. I'd also consider having the coolant pump changed at the same time. It's driven by the cambelt and prone to failure. The pump is not expensive but getting to it involves removing the cambelt which is! The engine used in these cars is a 5 cylinder Audi engine and apart from coolant pump problems is normally considered reliable. My own experience to date bears this out.

There is no recommended interval for changing the automatic transmission fluid for a car in normal service but it's something to consider as the mileage mounts up.

I've been very pleased with mine and hope you are with yours too. It certainly looks a nice example from the picture

I hope this is of some help to you

Yes guy its the one from Auto Trader . The deal has been done so I suppose that I,ve nothing to hide now £3950 how does that sound. Yes very high millage but if you could se the service history the I think that you would be plesantly suprised at what the chap had done to it, or what he hadn't done is more like it.
