Did mine yesterday as well - about 15k miles since last time.

A bit of build up, but not terrible. The car generally spends most of its time at high speed on the motorway if that makes any difference.

See mine is a 12 mile round trip to work, but when it goes for a run it's 400+.

My Car Spends must be 95% of it's time trundling up & down the motorway.
Should I be removing said pipe & give it a clean ?

When was the last time you cleaned it (if ever?) If the answer is more than 1yr or say 15k miles - then YES clean it.

Yeah if you haven't done it, check it regardless. Thought I'd give ours a go last year and found this:

Definitely, also just to see what state its in. It's a maximum of 50 mins and easy as an easy thing to do.

Attacked mine this morning, 55 plate D5 geartronic just under 200,000miles on the clock and it looked like this:

What joy these things are a:to get off this type of engine (185bhp) b:to clean all that gunk from, it was so caked the butterfly couldn't close fully, definitely recommend cleaning, will report back once I've test driven it
