Default EGR valve

Exhaust Gas Recirculation. It recirculates part of the exhaust gases from the engine back into the combustion chamber. It's part of the emissions reduction system.

i just wanted to point out guys that EGR in theory lowers combustion temperature which ofcourse is a good thing, so disabling it is not that straight forward win.
sorry for beeing an ass here D

Thanks for all the pics and info - I did my V70 in the same way and, although it wasn't as bad as your example, I got a fair amount of crud out, especially inside the top of the engine inlet. I had a nose around inside using a borescope and it was pretty clear further in. A messy but good job done!

Default egr cLEANING

My car (V70 2006, 92K) is dealer serviced, but I see no sign of EGR cleaning in the service requirements. Would this be done, or should I do it myself (quite happy to do so, but if it needs doing it should be part of regular dealer servicing).
Thanks

It's not something that a dealer would do as part of routine servicing. It's not even on any of the incremental service lists afaik. Just have a crack at it yourself. There isn't much to it. Just remember not to leave any large chunks of loose carbon, as they can make their way into the intake manifold where they could potentially clog valves.

Lettuce know how you get on. There are mixed reports about diesels and Terraclean.

I believe the Terraclean slogan is,

"Like Diesel Purge...... Only 10 times the price."
