There is a plenty about the K-Jetronic fuel system in the Owners Club site.

http://www.volvoclub.org.uk/tech/fue...jetronic.shtml

Before changing any units which have electrical connections, like the cold start injector, make sure that the volts are getting to the unit when they should. If not you could spend unnecessary money buying a component that you don't need to replace.

Well the cling film doesn't seem to have made any difference

Hopefully the leads etc will arrive today so will see if they make any difference.

Not had chance to look at the bolts on the belt cover yet (It's still darn cold outside LOL).

Thanks for the link pennine, I'll check that out

I though we had cracked that when I spotted the K&N filter in the photo. Still mre to do it appears. Do you have a multi meter and have you measures the resistance of the HT leads yet. Regards Peter

I was hopeing it was going to be as simple as the air filter, but hey ... part of the fun lol.

Yes, we have a multi meter, but we haven't tested the leads yet. What is the procedure for this?

Remove each lead in turn and measure the resistance in ohms from the copper clip that holds onto the plug to the copper end that goes into the distributor cap. Note the resistance and reapat for all 4 plug leads and the King Lead that is the one from the distrubutor to the coil. Note the results and come back to me. Regards Peter

Update .. the leads, plugs, dizzy cap and rotor arm that we ordered, arrived yesterday and are now fitted (Will keep the instructions for testing the leads though, as it may come in handy

He does seems to be running smoother, and starting did seem easier, but there still seems to be a slight hestitation when you set off i.e there seems to be a slight delay between putting foot on accelerator and the car setting off.

Check the resistance of the King lead and buy a bottle of Fuel Injector Cleaner and add some when your fuel is low so it is like a doudle dose. Use up the fuel then add the rest of the bottle and fill the tank. Regards Peter

Update .. sorry it's been so long .. school half term meant no time on pc LOL

We replaced the kind lead with the rest of the leads.

We put in some Injector Cleaner as suggested and have now gone through the whole tank of fuel.

He does seem to be running smoother, but the problem is still there (starts, revs drop, cuts out, starts again, keeps running but sluggish to accelerate for about 5 mins)

Any more suggestions?

Bin the aftermarket airfilter and fit the original plastic box (with the original pre-heating valve) AND the airduct to your downpipe ... OR wait for warmer weather?

Cheers, Chris

Thanks Chris.

Would this be a scrap yard item or best to buy a new one from Volvo (we bought the car as it is now)? Anyone have a rough idea what one of these will cost?

Debbie
