Real world MPG for a 2006 D5?

So, I sold my D5 S60 and now have a Honda CRV due to the high up sitting position - my back and hip stopped me being able to get in and out of the S60.
Unfortunately the Honda ain't no Volvo and I've now decided to try an XC90 auto (for ease of getting in and out and no clutch to have to suffer). I'm after a 185bhp, about 2006/7.
I realise I won't get the MPG the S60 gave me due to the XC90's weight, but what can I really expect?
I'm also considering getting it remapped, anyone had any experience of this and if so, how did it affect the fuel consumption?

My 2010 D5 auto gave an average of about 27 mpg when knocking about the doors, rising to 32-33 on longer trips.
Long motorway journeys with the speed kept in the mid 60’s could give 40 mpg plus.
Any speed over 75 would hammer the fuel consumption, as would really cold weather.

That tallies pretty much with my 2007 auto. I get about 25mpg locally though.

I always fill the car brim to brim and never use the computer for average mpg calcs
