2006 exterior door trim removal?
Hi all,
Just purchased a 2006 s40 2.0 diesel sport, so i'm new to the forum- just starting to try find my way around it. I'm wanting to remove the exterior door trim/mouldings as i'm wanting to get them painted to match car. Can any of you guys tell me how to remove them. Not sure if i'm gonna have to remove the inside door panels?? Any help would be great. Thanks all!! |

I have removed the inner rear panels before and I'm going to remove the fronts soon (to fit later model door mirrors).
Here's the detail. You need to pry the door handle covers off first. Take out the black plastic piece behind the handle (in the gap). Then use a prying tool to leaver the door handle off vertically. Once removed, check for screws as I think there are one or two located in there somewhere. Once completed you can start to pull off the door card using a prying tool. It's just clips that hold it in place but be gentle!

Hi All I appreciate this thread hasn't been used for a while but looking to do some similar work. Are the mid door trims attached by clips or is it double sides sticky take, read a few forums now with different opinions.
I've attached a picture of the car I want to update. |

I transformed mine when it was a couple of year sold from this to this.
I don't recall having to take any of the door cards off. I did, however, break a number of the plastic clips on removal so had to get some replacements from Volvo. Beware that the black plastic ones are not a smooth finish so if you paint them you'll struggle to get a good finish. The ones that are body coloured or part of the bodykit (what I fitted) are smooth and ready to prime and paint.
