Default V70 service

Hi chaps,

I’m planning on servicing my Dad’s V70 soon (P3 185bhp D5). I have VIDA, but do I have to reset the adjusted oil level/oil grade after I’ve completed the service, as well as the oil counter? Or can I change the oil, check the level is no higher than 70% as per VIDA instructions & just reset the oil counter, leaving the adjusted oil level/oil grade as it was?

Thanks

My 2011 facelift automatically adjusts after I change the oil. Apparently volvo fill to the exact level then reset it as full on computer. I've never had any issues but I'm sure mine is slightly off so on the cambelt change I will have a volvo service and a full update. As mines the facelift it maybe programmed differently to adjust but I'm not sure.

I've just completed a service of my 2014 V70 D5, which I've service myself the last 3 years. I refilled with 5.7 litres rather than mess with adding/measure/adding / measure and did no Vida oil / counter reset. My dash oil level is now showing full, and I've been told by trusted members what I have done is OK.
See thread https://www.volvoforums.org.uk/showthread.php?t=304476

Cheers
Bob

Yes that's about it , put in exactly 5.7 litres of the finest 0W/30 and reset the oil level gauge as that is a mandatory part of the service to prevent false level messages .

Do I have to reset the oil grade & oil quantity by pressing option two in VIDA, or just option 1 (Oil drained)? There’s two options to choose.

After that, then I reset the service reminder light, even though its not on because I’m servicing the car a tad early?

I don’t want the service light coming on next month when I’ve already done it!

See the end of this video. Do I select option 1 or 2?

you might as well although they only started using the oil grade section of the sensor in recent years . It outputs a digital signal containing oil Quality , Level and Temperature .

Default 2016 D3 oil change

Need to do an oil change pdq as it's overdue for a service. I have the filter and 5 litres of Volvo's own 0w20 oil. What size spanner do I need for the filter housing? Is it a shallow 36mm socket?
I'll be interested to see how much oil come out as it's been reading full for the last year.
Thanks
Dave

The filter housing needs a cup type tool , I cant remember the size ... being plastic it needs even pressure all around . You should be fine with the 5 litres regarding the level gauge and oil level messages as long as it was reset properly at the last service .

Thanks, I thought it had a hexagon like a Peugeot/Citroen filter. My mechanic chap has finally made contact so I may not have to do it after all.

Service is now complete (All filters changed & oil). I reset the service reminder light using VIDA, eventhough it wasn't actually on (Hopefully it doesn't pop up soon, as I've serviced the car about a month earlier than normal). I checked the oil level with the engine running at the correct temperature (Above 60%) & got the calculated oil level to 69% (VIDA recommends 70%, but didn't want to risk overfilling).

There wasn't an option to adjust the oil grade, so presumably, this is a function used in newer cars.

She's running sweet as a nut.
